Why 3J Test Prep?
Personalized.
In both our one-on-one and cohort tutoring, we take pride in crafting a course of study that will aid students in achieving higher scores on their coursework and standardized tests. We prefer to work with students who have taken at least one standardized college admissions test (PSAT, PLAN, SAT, ACT) so that we can give students an accurate assessment of their strengths and weaknesses. We want to partner with students who are serious about building a solid score, and believe that partnership is based on strong, respectful relationships. We strive to maximize our time by spending it primarily on the areas students need to shore up, while affirming the areas in which students already excel.
Knowledgeable.
Our tutors have been around the world of standardized testing. Collectively, we have successfully:
- Personally taken the SAT and scored perfectly on the Critical Reading and the Writing Essay
- Coached students who wanted to simply raise scores and several who wanted perfect scores
- Graded SAT Writing Essays for the College Board
- Scored AP European History essays for the College Board
- Been trained how to write questions for standardized tests to assess higher order thinking
Experienced.
Our tutors have many years of successful secondary school classroom teaching experience. They unite their ability to engage students with their knowledge of their subject matter to craft a purposeful tutoring session for each student. Because of our experience crafting meaningful classroom environments, we offer engaging, relevant, and affordable group seminars for home school groups or private schools. We have seen significant successes in students we have tutored and look forward to working with you.
Innovative.
We explore ways to capitalize on new technologies whenever we can. We understand that coordinating schedules with the busy lives of teenage students can prove difficult. As part of our commitment to maximize every venue for tutoring, we have explored using video chat for tutoring, with a significant degree of success. By using Google's Hangout service, we have been able to reach students whose sports commitments after school made it nearly impossible to meet regularly. You can read more about those efforts by clicking here.
